Fornells

La Palma is located in Fornells, a quiet fishing village in the center-north of Menorca, from where you can easily move around the island.
In fact, it is one of the prettiest and most authentic villages of the island. The reason is that much of the life of the town still revolves around its port.

Fornells is a great alternative to the more conventional Menorca. It is especially attractive for foodies, sailors and those who want to explore the north coast by kayak, yacht or windsurf. We liked it so much that we would have been happy to settle here to enjoy the slower paced and very different atmosphere of Menorca compared to other more popular accommodation centers on the south and west coast.

San Antonio Castle

In the 17th century, the entire town originated from this point. Along with other similar fortresses on the island, it was built with the aim of defending it against the frequent assaults coming from the sea. A bastion and some subway galleries remain from the original construction.

Corporal of Cavalry

It is, undoubtedly, one of the most unique natural areas in the north of Menorca. By road, it is about 15 kilometers from the town of Fornells, much less by sea. It rises on cliffs that surpass the 90 meters of height and its lighthouse is of a great scenography.

Coves and beaches of Fornells

The bay of Fornells is the typical Mediterranean picture: a sea that has drawn a rocky profile on which pine forests and other native species grow. It is common to see numerous pleasure boats that call at this natural refuge. Thus, their crew members can enjoy bathing in its transparent waters and the incredible richness of the seabed.
Those who prefer to enjoy the sea from inland, have the possibility of doing so from two beaches in the town:
Cala Cabra Salada: it is not a cove or beach as such, but an artificial platform from which bathers can access the sea. It is right in the center of Fornells.Cala Tirant: it is more than half a kilometer long and about 20 meters wide. This cove is framed by a belt of dunes and this, in turn, by a wetland around the mouth of a stream.

Fornells Cove

Enjoy a refreshing swim in one of its natural coves located along the 3 kilometers of bay, is another of the best things to do in Fornells. The most accessible is the urban cove of Fornells that wonders for the clarity of its waters that you can enjoy leaving the towel in an area of stones or on the same asphalt.
